Late September through mid November offers up some of the best riding weather of the year here in the Southeastern United States. I was able to get out on the SV on a weekday last week for a ride in the North Georgia mountains. The beauty of being able to ride there during the week is that you miss a lot of weekend traffic and LEO presence. I rode what is known as ‘The Loop’ which includes Hwy 19, Hwy 129 (Blood Mtn), Hwy 180 (Wolfpen Gap) and Hwy 60. If you live in this part of the Country you are well aware of this great route unless you’ve been living under a rock. If you’re not from around here and haven’t experienced these roads you owe it to yourself to plan on getting down here and checking them out. No fancy names like ‘The Dragon’ or ‘The Snake’ but mile for mile and curve for curve ‘The Loop’ gives up nothing to some of the more famous roads just to the north of us.
This weekend is the annual Dream House 500 charity ride http://www.dreamhouse500.com/ . I’ll be posting up a ride report next week covering this great event.
